Valley Veterinary Care of Union County

SBDC Helps Veterinary Clinic Expand to Bigger Location

Valley Veterinary Care of Union County will soon breathe new life into a new location on Adams Avenue thanks to their local SBDC. The owner, Dr. Jeff Henry, had been thinking about making changes to his business model. After serving the region for more than 24 years, the veterinary clinic had outgrown its current location.

In early 2017, Jeff found the right building for his business. Knowing he would need external financing options, Jeff reached out to the Eastern Oregon SBDC. The center worked to connect Jeff with potential lenders and in the end he received the funds to purchase and remodel the building.

The new location provides additional space, equipment upgrades and room for future veterinarians to grow the clinic. “The EOU SBDC has been a great asset in this project,” said Jeff. “Their expertise helped us move forward – we could not have done it without them.”

“The EOU SBDC stands ready to assist entrepreneurs with no-cost confidential advising. We identify needs, coordinate resources and find solutions,” said Greg Smith, EOU SBDC director.

“EOU continues to invest in our local SBDC to assist businesses like Valley Veterinary Care,” said EOU President Tom Insko. Bilingual counselors are also on call for those preferring the Spanish-language experience.

Aggie’s on Main

SBDC Helps Aggie’s on Main Reach Further

In 2014, the EOU SBDC became acquainted with Lisa Lively, owner of Aggie’s on Main. Situated in beautiful Union, Oregon, the company produces and sells excellent and high-quality home fragrance products in 16 different locations throughout the state.

Lisa came to the EOU SBDC seeking website assistance. She wanted to take her current website and update it to have a fresher look and appeal. She hoped this new site would also provide an online store. The EOU SBDC worked with Lisa in planning, developing and constructing the new website. Designed to complement her products, the new site allows customers to read details about each product and provides secure access for wholesale customers to purchase products.

“We are very proud and excited to announce the launch of our new website,” Lisa said. “With the online store, we can expand our product’s accessibility to customers throughout the Pacific Northwest.”

“Aggie’s on Main is a great locally-owned business that produces excellent, high-quality products,” said EOU SBDC Director Greg Smith. “We were happy to assist in the expansion of their business through a new website and online store. We look forward to their continued success.”

Sally Foods LLC

A booming salsa business gets financing to expand with help from the SBDC

Sally Potter and her family began producing their salsa in their home in Fossil.

When they realized they needed a bigger production facility, and the financing to make it happen, the Potters went the EOU SBDC.

With the help of the EOU SBDC, Sally Foods LLC put together all their financial documents, received a free and confidential financial analysis, and was partnered with a local lending program. Meanwhile, members of the company fine-tuned their business skills by attending free cash-flow management classes and visiting with the EOU SBDC Director.

Sally Foods LLC was successful in obtaining the financing needed to move into a new facility and purchase commercial grade equipment. Since moving into their commercial kitchen, Sally Foods LLC has continued to see increased sales growth.

“We appreciate the help the EOU SBDC was able to provide,” Sally said. “We were able to receive guidance on cash flow management and help preparing loan documents. These services helped us achieve our goal of obtaining a larger commercial facility that will help our business grow now and in the distant future.”
