Growing up in the 1950 and 60’s, made me realize that we always need to strive to make the world a better place. Being part of the creation of a family business in my early career helped me learn that working with family and close friends in a community that you love can be one of the best opportunities for living a great life.
Ron grew up in a small business environment. In the 1972, after graduating with BA in Psychology from Boston University, he started a delicatessen business with his parents who just retired. After his partners died in the late 1970’s he continued operation of the business on the New Jersey Shore until 1990. Moving to Oregon with his family, Ron completed his Master of Business Administration at Oregon State University in 1992. Since 1991 Ron worked as the Small Business Management Coordinator at Oregon Coast Community College, retiring in 2015. Ron has worked with thousands of businesses. His great joy is that his students have gone on to win numerous Small Business Administration Awards at the State and National level including four OSU Austin Family Business award winners that have been involved with the SBDCs.
