I’ve found that entrepreneurs on Oregon’s central coast share an unflagging optimism as they strive to build their businesses.
The coast attracts a special kind of entrepreneur. Stunning natural beauty and thriving tourism, fishing and natural resource industries help define a promising market. But this market also brings challenges, like stark seasonality.
Our team at the Oregon Coast Community College Small Business Development Center is here to help you, every step of the way. We’ve started, operated and sold businesses on the coast, so we understand the challenges and the opportunities the coast presents. At our center, prospective or current business owners can take advantage of free, confidential, one-on-one business advising and free and low-cost business courses.
Our dedicated staff works to help start, grow and retain profitable businesses throughout Lincoln County. Request a free business advising appointment today or call 541-994-4166 to learn more.

It was really worth it!
The SBDC helped me articulate my vision in very specific terms. They set me up with a bank who was eager to lend to someone like me.
I view the services that were offered through the SBDC as a vital opportunity to network and to learn about what resources are there. Portland has a vital food landscape, but for a foraging food entrepreneur, it’s hard to pick through everything out there
We loved the class and we’re already getting signed up for the next step. I would recommend it to anybody who is starting or has already started a business.
We started with a plot of land and without the SBDC we wouldn’t be here.
I truly don’t think we would have been able to do it without SBDC. Our adviser made us think about things we weren’t thinking about at that moment, like how to budget for a website.
Sometimes it’s just needing to know I am on the right track. I know if I need something I can call my adviser up or email him and say I need a sounding board.
Without David and SBDC this transition and journey would have been almost impossible. We were in a unique situation, opening a new business in place of something that the community knew. David is always there to answer any questions. This helped immensely.
If you just need to bounce an idea off of someone who’s been in the industry and has experience in the area of what you want to do, it’s just good to go talk with (SBDC) and see if they can help make it more simple.
They’re helping me work smarter, rather than longer hours, so I can get a day off now and again.
