The SBDC is not a one and done organization. My adviser stays in contact with me and is there when I need him. The value of the SBDC to our business community cannot be overstated.
The (SBDC) classes were fabulous. They really helped prepare you.
Without David and SBDC this transition and journey would have been almost impossible. We were in a unique situation, opening a new business in place of something that the community knew. David is always there to answer any questions. This helped immensely.
So many of the basic skills you believe you should come into a business with I did not have, like basic accounting and marketing. I learned those things during those monthly SBDC classes.
I would recommend to anybody starting a business to take a class. It’s very affordable and it’s worth it.
Sometimes it’s just needing to know I am on the right track. I know if I need something I can call my adviser up or email him and say I need a sounding board.
When we didn’t know the next step to take, we would talk to Dave and he would guide us in the right direction on what to do next.
It’s so neat, when you start writing your ideas and later you look back and all this stuff you fabricated became real. And that wouldn’t have happened without SBDC.
A lot of what has been helpful is (my adviser) confirming that what I’m doing is right. I’ve taken myself out of the job in the business and working on it is the best thing I could have done. But I needed to hear from a professional that I was doing the right thing.
Since the infancy of BGood Bars, we have seen our sales double annually. Rick Bombaci with the SBDC has provided important help with marketing and running a small business. He has great ideas, and has done additional research for me on marketing, trademark and patent information for my product.
