The Atom Bistro
Jody Brown launched The Atom Bistro and Coffee Bar in 2017, setting the stage for remarkable growth. With determination, strategic planning, and help from the Oregon SBDC, Jody and her family transformed The Atom into one of Glide’s most modern and inviting restaurants over the past seven years.
After several years in a rented storefront, Jody saw an opportunity for expansion thanks to a loyal customer base and strong support from the Glide community. Despite some financing challenges, Jody persevered, and The Atom opened its new location in June 2024, offering double the seating capacity, increased parking options, and a drive-through.
Since starting her entrepreneurial journey, Jody has used the Umpqua SBDC’s one-on-one business advising and has completed multiple levels of their Small Business Management program. She has been relentless in her efforts to learn while gaining a hands-on understanding of every aspect of business ownership and management.
Today, a rural community and countless travelers reap the tasty rewards of Jody’s vision, dedication, and hard work.
