SBDC Helps Veterinary Clinic Expand to Bigger Location

Valley Veterinary Care of Union County will soon breathe new life into a new location on Adams Avenue thanks to their local SBDC. The owner, Dr. Jeff Henry, had been thinking about making changes to his business model. After serving the region for more than 24 years, the veterinary clinic had outgrown its current location.

In early 2017, Jeff found the right building for his business. Knowing he would need external financing options, Jeff reached out to the Eastern Oregon SBDC. The center worked to connect Jeff with potential lenders and in the end he received the funds to purchase and remodel the building.

The new location provides additional space, equipment upgrades and room for future veterinarians to grow the clinic. “The EOU SBDC has been a great asset in this project,” said Jeff. “Their expertise helped us move forward – we could not have done it without them.”

“The EOU SBDC stands ready to assist entrepreneurs with no-cost confidential advising. We identify needs, coordinate resources and find solutions,” said Greg Smith, EOU SBDC director.

“EOU continues to invest in our local SBDC to assist businesses like Valley Veterinary Care,” said EOU President Tom Insko. Bilingual counselors are also on call for those preferring the Spanish-language experience.
